Barbara Sue “Bobbie” Brasfield Pace, 85, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland early Saturday afternoon, 20 October 2012. Heaven has gained a beautiful, sweet and gentle spirit and of whom it is said “she had fresh cake for after school snacks”.
Bobbie was the daughter of Joseph Ellis and Leila May Brasfield and was born 09 September 1927 in Jackson, MS. A 1945 Graduate of Central High School, she left on graduation day to join her new husband in Miami where he was serving in the US Navy. Marrying only once, she was the loving and faithful wife of Kenneth Samuel Pace, Sr. who preceded her in death in 1984, and of whom she often said “why remarry when you’ve had the best”. During their marriage, they were active in and often frequented antique shows throughout the Southeast. It is well known that she worked at the cosmetic counter at both Merle Norman’s and Beamon’s Drugs and was a dear friend and confidante to all her customers.
Bobbie was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Jackson and was one of the “First Ladies” Sunday School class. She loved her church and her faith and devotion was undisputed.
She was the mother of five remarkable and successful children, all of whom she loved dearly and fretted about to no end. Her family was nearly the most important thing in her world. She is survived by her three sons and two daughters: Kenneth Samuel Pace, Jr. and his wife Ginny, of Ridgeland, MS; Joseph Irving Pace and his wife Sandi of Stafford, VA; Cindi Pace Alexander and her husband Charlie of Brandon, MS; Mark Steven Pace and his wife Resa of Edmond, OK; Tina Pace Byford and her husband Brandon of Memphis, TN. She has sixteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister Dean Pentecost, of Brandon, MS and her special friend and first cousin Annette Scruggs of Brandon, MS.
Her family wishes to thank all of the wonderful caregivers at Brandon Court Nursing Home, 4th Floor ICU and the 5th Floor at St. Dominic Hospital, and Hospice Ministries Inc., Ridgeland, MS for their loving and generous care during her recent hospitalization and passing.
