She was born in Vicksburg, February 2, 1919, to Edward and Nattie Viola Hall. They moved to Jackson when she was seven years old. Most of her life was spent in Hinds county where she attended Forest Hill School, graduating with honors.
Shortly thereafter she married Robert Graham McNeece and was blessed with two children, James Philip McNeece and Yvonne McNeece. After her husband's death in 1964, she married W.S. Torrance, who passed away in 1994.
She was very active in the community even into her late 90's, sewing clothes for refugees in Haiti. Her last years were spent at Sunnybrook Estates in Madison.
Survivors include James McNeece (Gayle) of Richland, Washington and Yvonne Neelley (John) of Clinton, MS, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a great, great grandchild.
Due to Covid restrictions a gravside service will be held at the pavilion at Lakewood Memorial Park on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at 1:00 pm and a visitation at Lakewood Funeral Home from 11:00 am-1:00 pm.
