Mr. Landfair joined the Air Force Dec. 11, 1939, and served his country in World War II.
He was honorably discharged on May 5, 1971. He also worked for the U.S. Postal
Service for 20 plus years and retired in 1982. After retiring Mr. Landfair especially loved
to garden. He had the most beautiful daylilies and irises and seemed to have a
particularly green thumb for African violets. He could also cook the best spaghetti sauce
and bake a wonderful red velvet cake.
Mr. Landfair is preceded in death by his wife, Maria A. Landfair who for 47 plus years was the love of his life. They were members at Creston Hills Baptist Church for some time, and later at Southside Baptist Church around 1996 and remained members there until their deaths.
Mr. Landfair is also preceded in death by his parents, George Edward and Frances Marie
(Birdie) Landfair, his daughter, Claudette, one brother, George Landfair, two sisters,
Christine Moore and Kathleen Baxter.
Mr. Landfair is survived by one sister, Mrs. Ruby Grantham of Madison, nephew, Tom
Grantham of Madison and 2 grandchildren, Tammy and Tommy Com of Georgia. He is
also survived by his "adopted" family, Jeff, Kristy, Will and Sarah Lovorn, whose honor
and privilege it has been to be a part of his and his wife's life and help care for them for
the past 16 years. They called Will and Sarah their grandchildren and thought of them as
such.
Special thanks to the nurses, CNAs, caregivers, volunteers and staff of Willow Creek
Nursing Home in Byram which has been his home for the past 5 1/2 years. Thank you so
much for taking such good care of him.
