Doris Jane George

     Doris Jane Scott George of Florence, MS passed away at home on July 28, 2013 after struggling with multiple health conditions.  She was born in Tennessee and graduated from Puckett High School in Rankin Co., MS and Mississippi Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in Jackson, MS.  She worked as a registered nurse for 25 years, primarily at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett C. Scott of Yuma, Tennessee and Myrna Berry Scott Haley of D’Lo, MS; daughter, Debra G. George of Jackson, MS; and grandson, Marcus Ryan Basye of Terry, MS.

     Doris is survived by her faithful husband of 58 years, Wallace C. George of Florence, MS; daughters Dorisa George Basye (David) of Terry, MS and Janet George Green (Donald) of Florence, MS.  Grandchildren are Matthew David Basye (Brett) of Terry, MS; John Lloyd Green and Susan Adelia Green of Florence, MS.  She was also blessed with one great-grandson, Bates Anderson Basye of Terry, MS.  Brother Everett Berry Scott (Jackie) resides in Tempe, AZ.

 Funeral services will be held 9:30am Wednesday July 31, 2013 from the chapel of Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home Jackson, MS. visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00pm till 7:00pm and Wednesday from 8:30am till 9:30am at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Florence Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s research or to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions through the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention, P.O. Box 6767, Richmond, VA 23230-6767.
