

Doris Phipps McGehee was born March 11th, 1928 in Taylorsville, MS and moved to Jackson in her 20's. Doris died March 15, 2015 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Doris was a homemaker, excellent cook and always full of fun. She was a beauty that never met a stranger. She took a lot of pleasure in decorating and enjoying friends and family, especially during the holidays. She was a source of humor and wit, an April fool's day prankster.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Emma Phipps; devoted husband, Tom McGehee; a son, Jack Cargile; siblings, Hortense Gaddis, Nita Kobzeff, Clint Phipps, Bob Phipps, Jack Phipps, Jim Phipps and beloved niece, Jean Raines. She is survived by her daughter, Beth Sheridan of New York City and son, John Cargile ( Jane) of Raymond, MS; grandchildren, Sam Sheridan, John Cargile, Shan Cargile, Jana Camp and Julie Palmire; great grandchildren, Luke Cargile, Taylor Cargile, Eli Cargile, Emily Cargile, Audrey Cargile and Annalyse Camp and also Rebecca Cargile.
A very special thank you to niece Bobbie Gaddis, niece Lynn Gaddis, granddaughter in law Shelia Cargile, and her very special friend Carrie Rodriguez for their unfailing love and support and most importantly their time and presence.
Doris was a member of Epworth Methodist Church. Thanks to members who visited. She will be missed by many long time friends.
Visitation will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home in Jackson, MS on Thursday, March 19 at Noon for Family and 1:00 pm for public. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm with interment to follow in Lakewood Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be John Cargile, Jr., John Cargile, Shan Cargile, Taylor Cargile, Luke Cargile and Sam Sheridan.
