Edith Ann Fortenberry passed away on Monday, December 8th, 2025 of natural causes in her home in Ridgeland. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 10th from 1-2 PM at Lakewood Memorial Park on Clinton Blvd. A graveside service will immediately follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Born on January 23 in Greenwood, Mississippi, to Howard and Mary Ann Stanton, Edith was married to Jasper Estes Fortenberry III on November 13, 1982. Edi was a devoted Christian, teacher, wife, and mother.
Edi was happiest spending time with her family, unofficially winning every aired episode of Jeopardy, and formulating excel sheets for everything. Her curiosity and love of learning inspired those around her to ask questions and pursue knowledge with the same passion.
Edi is survived by her four daughters, Emily, Fort, Victoria and Lydia; her granddaughters, Emma Claire and Marilyn Otis; and her two elder brothers Lin and Mark, who will continue to love and honor her memory.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack, and her parents Howard and Mary Ann, and her brother James and her sister Ellen. We take comfort in knowing she is with them again.
We take comfort in knowing she is at rest in Heaven, embraced by the faith that guided her life.
