Esther Thompson Lewis

Esther was born on March 7, 1934 in Beresford, South Dakota to parents Hannah and Robert Thompson. She was the youngest of 10 children. She was baptized and confirmed at Romsdal Lutheran Church in South Dakota.

After graduating from high school she worked for First National Bank in Beresford. In 1958 she met Kenneth Lewis in Rapid City, South Dakota. He was stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base. Esther transferred to Rushmore State Bank in Rapid City and worked there for three years. Kenneth returned to Jackson when he was honorably discharged from the Air Force. Esther moved to Jackson and they were married in January 1961.

Esther worked for Trustmark National Bank from 1961 to 1979. She enjoyed gardening.

Esther was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church. While at Trinity she participated in many activities including working in the office when needed. She later became a member of Ascension Lutheran Church.

Esther was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, her parents, sister Lorene and brothers Lowell, George, Kenneth, Bob, Vic, Calmer and Henry.

She is survived by her brother Bill and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, February 2, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm and on Saturday, February 3 at 10:00 am before the funeral service at 11:00 am at Lakewood Funeral Home.
