God called Eugenia (Jean) Douglas Conner home on 04/15/23. She kept her world lively for 94 years with her humor, witty comments, and determination. It’s difficult to say goodbye to someone who made your world a better place and never let you forget you were loved.
She was one of 10 children (3 boys and 7 girls) born to Ruth Massey and William Douglas on April 13, 1929. They were a close family who enjoyed being together. I can remember, as many of my cousins do, the laughter and joy they shared on my grandma’s porch when they all got together.
She married our dad, T B Conner (Dick) June 21, 1946. They were married 64 years until he passed away in 2006. She’s said many times “I’d still be with him if he was still here, even though he could be a devil”. She had 2 children Micheal (Mike) Conner and Donna Conner, a granddaughter, Melanie Renfro (Charles) 3 great grandchildren Brady (Emily), Hayden, and Heather, and a great, great grandson, John Charles, on the way.
She was a hard worker and believed that “if you’re able then you’re capable”. She worked as a farmer, factory worker, retail sales, sales manager and pharmacy technician. She loved people so retail work gave her the resource she needed to make a multitude of friends. As hard as she worked she loved playing. She loved dancing, music, playing cards and Chinese Checkers. She wasn’t adverse to visiting the casinos in Vicksburg (for the buffets of course.). She enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening and most outdoor activities, even raking leaves. She loved laughing and talking with people so she “never met a stranger”.
The family wants to send a special recognition to Shannon White and Cassandra Purvis for the great care and love they gave Mom. Thank you can not express the gratitude we feel toward the CNAs and nurses of Trend Healthcare and Rehab Center (former Country Brook Living Center) in Brookhaven, MS for taking such great care of her.
