

Frances Hendrick Irby, age 77, died of cancer on October 25, 2010 at St Catherine’s Village in Madison, MS. Funeral services will be at 10am Thursday Oct. 28,2010 at St. Richard Catholic Church with internment to follow at Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00pm till 7:00pm with a 7:00pm Wake Service at St Richard Catholic Church and visitation one hour before the funeral mass at St Richard Church. Frances was born in Tulsa, Ok on March 8, 1933. She lived in Mobile AL where she attended grade school. After World War II, her family moved to Gulfport, MS. where she graduated from Gulfport High School and Gulf Parks College. Upon completion of Gulf Parks College she moved to New Orleans where she worked for Shell Oil in their production department. In 1959 she met and married James “Jamie” W. Irby of Jackson.
Frances was very active in their church, St Richard Catholic Church, serving on various committees and service oriented groups such as The Gleaners, St Richard Special Kids, Evening for the Engaged, Prison Ministry, Timely Topics Committee, and Small Faith Groups.
Frances was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Johana and father, James A. Hendrick who were members of St Richard Church, and by her sister, Joann Urycki of Cleveland, Ohio. Frances’s surviving three sisters and one brother are: Martha Chapin and husband, Dickie, of Gulfport, MS; Kathy Jones and husband, Kirk, of Spartanburg, SC; Jamie Kozelka and husband, Chuck, of Macidonia, OH; and Jim Hendrick and wife, Mary, of Denver, CO.
Frances is survived by her husband, Jamie Irby, and their four children and their families and grand children: Joann and Vince Cannata and their children, Vinny and Mary Frances of Houma, La.; Jim and Kim Irby and Kim’s daughter Meredith of Jackson; Mark and Theresa Irby and their children, Steven and Lacey of Ridgeland, MS and Kathleen E. Irby of Atlanta, GA.
The family extends warm special thanks to the dedicated staff of St Catherine’s Village for their care, to all the priests and religious ministers who visited her, and to her many friends who loved her.
