
Ileta Bennett, 93, went home to be with the Lord on February 28, 2012 at Golden Age Nursing Home, Greenwood, MS where she had lived for the past 3 years having relocated as a longtime resident of Byram.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Griffith Memorial Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 12 Noon until service time Saturday at the church.
Ms. Bennett was born in Calhoun County on January 4, 1919 and moved to Hinds County in 1944 where she and her husband attended Mississippi College. As a minister’s wife, Ms. Bennett worked along beside her husband in church work, teaching a Sunday School class for 50+years and helping in the music ministry. They served together for 38 years at Byram Baptist Church before retiring and serving at several churches before becoming members of Griffith Memorial Baptist Church. Her sweet spirit and selfless way touched the many people she came in contact with.
Ms. Bennett was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Rev. Henry Joe Bennett.
Survivors include son, Benny Bennett of Atlanta, GA; son, Joel Bennett of Brandon; daughter, Nay Reed of Greenwood, and daughter , Rockie Netherland of Brookhaven; 10 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
