

Isiac Wiggins of Clinton, Ms, died Sunday, May 24, 2015, at the Ms. State Veterans’ Home in Jackson, MS. Visitation is at Lakewood Funeral Home on Clinton Boulevard at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2015 with service and burial to follow at 12:00 p.m. Mr. Wiggins was a member of Morrison Heights Baptist Church. He was born December 29, 1932, in Winnesboro, La., to Isiac F. Wiggins, Sr., and Anthony Guimbellot Wiggins. His family moved to Vicksburg, Ms., after World War II. He was proud to have served his country during the Korean conflict, joining the National Guard during high school and being called to active duty with the 31st division. After his service time he returned to Vicksburg to graduate with the Carr Central High School Class of 1953. He attended Hinds Jr. College, 1953 – 1955, where he played football, basketball, and ran track. He was on the 1954 football team that won the Jr. Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA. He was married to Valerie Diffey Wiggins. They just observed their 60th wedding anniversary. He retired from the U. S. Postal service in 1998, with 43 years of service. He was the bright face, with the happy smile that you saw when you went to buy stamps. He found peace and solitude in being a passionate fisherman. He was a sportsman to the core, and enjoyed coaching Little League for several years. He coached for the YMCA, coaching T-ball and flag football. He was a member of the MMAOA for thirty-four years. He refereed in basketball and football at the high school level, and also football at the Community College level. Survivors are his wife ,Valerie, Kimberly Atwood his daughter, Todd Wiggins his son, Kaitlin and Kara Atwood, granddaughters who gave him much joy. His parents and four brothers predeceased him.
