Mr. Jack Ramey Matthews

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Lakewood Funeral Home from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. The funeral service will be held Friday, March 16, 2018 at Lakewood Funeral Home at 11:00 am. Darren Miley of Pinelake Church will be officiating. Burial will follow the funeral at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Lakewood Funeral Home.

Jack was born in Houston, Texas on September 4, 1923 but grew up in Jackson. He served in the Navy for 6 years from December,1940 to November,1946 and retired as a Boatswain Mate, 1st Class. After the Navy he moved back to Jackson where he worked in the lumber industry as a buyer for Desoto, Inc. for over 30 years. And his favorite hobby was woodworking.

Jack was a loving husband to Bonnie Christine (Craft) from Magee, Ms. They were married for almost 71 years and together they have four children; Buddy and Doris Matthews of Brandon, Ms, Danny and Gail Matthews of Brandon, Ms, Joan Tramuta of Slidell, LA and Missy and Harvey Green, II of Madison, Ms. Jack has 11 wonderful grandchildren; Brian, Brad, Karin, Drew, Mary Ellen, Austin, Luke, Beau, Stephen, Tara and Suzanne; and 11 adorable great-grandchildren; Eliza, Clara, Layton, Jack, Anelise, Tyler, Justin, Saira, Matteo, Darian and Ethan.

Jack is preceded in death by his son, Jack Jr., of Medford Lakes, New Jersey and son-in-law, Sal Tramuta of Slidell, LA; sister, Marjorie Pizzitola of Corsicana, Tx.
