

James Aubrey Hankins, 92, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 in Pearl, MS. He was born on October 23,1929 in Winfield, Alabama to the late James Darius Hankins and Sarah Edith Hankins. A celebration of life service will be held Wednesday, April 13th at Lakewood Funeral Home at 10:00 am.
He was raised in a Christian home with a father who was a Southern Baptist Minister. He served in the US Navy for four years as a radio operator. After leaving the Navy he went to college at the Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. There he met his wife of 60 years Marian Lois Braun Hankins, who preceded him in death on October 14, 2015. After college he became a high school principal in Evanston, Illinois. He and his wife Marian Lois Braun Hankins, later moved to Mississippi where they were the founders of Jim Hankins Air Service, Inc. established in 1958.
He is survived by his loving children, James A. Hankins, Jr., Michael S. Hankins (Janet), Roger W. Hankins (Pratum), Arthur D. Hankins (Sharon) and Laura Hankins Daniel (Michael Murphy); siblings, Kermit Hankins, Dean Tomey, Elaine Connell, Caroline Gould, Bob Hankins, and the late Aubeline Morton; grandchildren, Bruce Moss, Christopher Hankins, Lindsay Hankins Woodrow, Matthew Hankins, Adam Hankins, Nick Hankins, Ashley Daniel Sherman, Natalie Hankins Hearn, Amber Hurtado Morrison, James A. Hankins, III, Hunter Hankins, Nathan Hankins, and Kyle Wisnoski; and he was blessed with 24 great-grandchildren.
