He is survived by his wife of 77 years, Lou Ella Thompson. He is also survived by 4 children: Curtis (Brenda) McNeil, Dawn (Billy) Henderson, Beverly Chappell, and James (Judy) McNeil, 9 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 5 great great-grandchildren.
James Allen McNeil was a longtime resident of Hinds County, Mississippi. He served in the Army Air Corps in World War II, as ground crew chief for the B24 Liberator, Miss Fire. After the war he became an automobile mechanic, eventually owning his own business, Mac’s Automotive Safety Shop. He volunteered at the VA for 26 years.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 1, from 9:30am to 11:00am, followed by the funeral service at 11:00am at Lakewood Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Lakewood Cemetery.
