

On July 18, 2016, Jane Pitts Rochester Mullins, at home, in Raymond, Miss., peacefully entered her Heavenly home after an extended illness. Jane was born on January 13, 1920 to Pelham and Mabel Pitts in Jackson, Miss. She graduated from Jackson’s Central High School in 1937 and later from Draughn’s Business College. In 1940, Jane married Earle B. Rochester, Sr. Through the years, Jane held secretarial positions at: Lamar Life Ins., Kennington’s Department Store and she was the secretary to the sales manager at WLBT-TV until she retired. Jane and Earle were members of Van Winkle Baptist Church, Wildwood Baptist Church and later First Baptist Church in Clinton, Miss. Together they enjoyed many activities with family and friends including RV’ing with the Jackson Metro Ramblers Camping Club and Campers on Mission. Jane was involved in home extension club activities and the DAR, becoming the Regent of the James Foster Chapter, Jackson, Miss., and later transferring to the Walter Leake DAR Chapter in Clinton, Miss. She was also a member of the Clinton Music Club and the Clinton Study Club. Earle passed away in 1991 and in 1998, Jane married Lester G. Mullins of Clinton, Miss. Together they enjoyed their church activities and travelling in the US and abroad. Lester passed away in 2005. Jane remained active with family and friends, in her church, traveling and volunteering at the Natchez Trace Welcome Center in Clinton, Miss. A godly and gracious lady, Jane was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who was loved and respected by all. She will be greatly missed. Jane was predeceased not only by her husbands and parents, but also by a daughter, Janie Lynell Rochester, and her brother, Leslie (Sue) Pitts. She is also survived by her children, E. Buford (Pamela) Rochester, Jr., Collinsville, Miss., Martha (Douglas) Fast, Dallas, Ore., Judy (Ricky) Fain, Raymond, Miss., and step-son, Bob (Deb) Mullins, Raymond, Miss. Grandchildren, Kirk (Katie) Fast, Erik (Krista) Fast, Cory (Mary) Fast, Stephen Rochester, Richard (Lindsay) Fain, John (Jillian) Fain and Amy (Brice) Till and twelve great grandchildren. Jane’s children greatly appreciate the loving care given to their mother for the past three years by Doris, Joanne, Carolyn and Gracie. The family will receive friends and family at Lakewood Funeral Home, Clinton Blvd, on Saturday, July 23, 2016 from 9:30 to 11:00. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home chapel at 11:00. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.
