

Joann was born on February 1, 1930 in Drew, MS. Her parents were Duel David Lewis and Alice Estelle Fondren Lewis.
Born in Drew and raised in Jackson, Joann graduated from Central High School in 1948 and married her sweetheart, Robert L. (Bob) Clarke on February 18, 1951. She loved her first home at 1728 Dixie Drive where she lived for more than 50 years. She was a member of Van Winkle United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and in other roles.
Joann was a wonderful homemaker and seamstress. She volunteered in the Cub Scouts and as a homeroom mother at the elementary school. When the kids were in junior high and high school, she became a sales associate in the linens department for JC Penney for over twenty years. She even managed the baseball concession stand at Hinds many seasons.
Her main goal in life was making a loving home for her family. She loved her four boys and would do anything for them.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and granddaughters Angela and Jenny.
Jo is survived by her loving sister Glenda Lewis Brown (Ed) of Hattiesburg, sons Robby (Geri), Rick (Patty), Russ (Sheri), Ronny (Paula), 12 grandchildren, ten more Clarke boys Jason, Blake, Kevin, Ashley, Billy, Jimmy, Josh, Jake, Ryan, and Brenton and two girls, Robin Clarke Gentry and Christy Clarke Lewis. She also had 16 great-grandchildren.
A graveside visitation will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 PM on Monday, November 1 at Lakewood South Memorial Park, 430 McCluer Road, Jackson, MS 39212 with the graveside service immediately following.
