

John Hillman Rogers, 82, died at his home on Saturday, April 2, 2011. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, April 4 at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home, downtown, and from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on April 5, 2011 at First Presbyterian Church of Jackson. Services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. at First Presbyterian Church and interment will be at Lakewood Memorial Park. Wright and Ferguson is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Rogers was born to John Sharp Rogers and Eula Clark Rogers on December 12, 1928, in Sylvarena, MS. He earned his undrgraduate degree from the University of Mississippi in 1950 and his LL.B degree from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 1952. After graduation he was employed by Humble Oil and Refining Cmpany for 14 years. In 1966 he left Humble Oil to be a self-employed Independant Petroleum Landman and Attorney.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Billy Charles Rogers of Midland, TX.
He was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church of Jackson where he was active in the Singles and Doubles
Sunday School Class, the Saturday Morning Men's Prayer group, ushering, and other activities.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Jeanne Yelverton Rogers of Brandon and their three sons, T. David Rogers of Lee's Summit, MO, Steve Rogers of Madison, and Tim Rogers and wife Judy of Clinton. He was blessed with 10 grandchildren: Charlie Rogers, Kristi Rogers, Nick Rogers, Travis Rogers, Stephen Rogers, Sara Rogers Capton, Melissa Rogers Bush, Kristin Meeks, Brad Rogers and Chance Rogers. Plus 7 great-grandchildren: Parker Rogers, Dustin Rocconi, Brandon Rogers, Rachel Rogers, Colton Bush, Hayes Capton, and Avery Price. He is survived by a brother, James L. Rogers of Independence, MO.
