Johnnie H. Boyd

Visitation will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 29, 2018 at 1:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with visitation one hour prior. Dr. Brent Barker will be officiating. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Johnnie was born on September 5, 1935 in Mendenhall, MS. She was a longtime resident of Clinton, Mississippi at the time of her passing. She was a member of Providence Presbyterian Church. She retired from Trustmark National Bank where she worked for many years. Johnnie was a beautiful loving Wife, Mother, Sister, and Mamaw. She brought joy, laughter and encouragement to everyone that knew her. She always knew when a loved one was in need and she used her God given gift of making them feel special and supported. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, visiting with friends, watching football, holidays, and she loved her husband and family.

Johnnie is preceded in death by her parents, Bob Hays and Lona Ponder Hays; her siblings, Ned Hays, Newell Hays, Bettie Smith, Jimmie Kinsey, Leonteen Stevens, Edwinia McIntosh, Willie B. Blackwell, Ruth Harbin, and Charles Neville Hays and her granddaughter, Felicia McGriff Estridge.

Johnnie is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Robert Henry Boyd; her daughters Sharon McGriff (Gary), Laura White (William), Sandra Clay (Paul), Pam Meadows (Ed), Dorothy Williams (Mark); grandchildren Dave McGriff, Christy McGriff Hildesheim, Laura Marie Campbell, Naomi Meadows Mathis, Ben Meadows, Miah Williams Ramos, Ross Clay and Alec Williams; 9 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family of Johnnie Boyd wishes to thank Sta-Home Health & Hospice for 9 years of their loving care. We would also like to thank her personal caregivers whom she loved and trusted. The family also wants to wish a special thank you to Johnnie's friend and housekeeper of 30 plus years, Mrs. Pearlie Mae Smith whom also cared for her when she was sick.
