Josie Dean Castle Scott

Dean Castle Scott, 88, of Madison, Mississippi, formerly of Memphis, Tennessee, died January 13, 2017 at St. Dominic’s Hospital, Jackson, Mississippi. Dean was born January 5, 1929, in Jackson, Mississippi, the daughter of Charles Lamar Castle and Virgie Harper.

Dean graduated from Central High School, Jackson, Mississippi and Louisiana State University, where she was a member of Phi Kappa Phi and Phi Mu Sorority.

Dean was preceded in death by her husband, O. Walter Scott, Jr.

Having lived in Memphis, Tennessee for 50 years, she was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Maternal Welfare League, Josephine Circle, Woman’s Exchange, 20th Century Garden Club, Junior Kennedy Book Club and several bridge clubs. After moving to St. Catherine’s Village in Madison, Mississippi, she became a member of the Ladies in Pink Social Club.

Dean is survived by her sister, Marjorie Pritchard; sons Barry Scott DDS and Walter Scott III and his wife Sandra; five grandchildren Jordan, Drew and Anna Scott, Liz Heidorn, Shawna Myers; and three great-grandchildren Andy and Matthew Heidorn, and Katie Beth Scott.

Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 a.m., Monday, January 16, followed by Memorial Service, Burial and Reception, at Lakewood Funeral Home, 6011 Clinton Blvd., Jackson, Mississippi.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation in support of breast cancer research.
