Joycelyn Milner (Joy) Reid, 86, died October 27 at Riggs Manor. Visitation is on Friday, October 31, at First Baptist Church Clinton 9:30am-10:45am with services at 11am followed by burial in Lakewood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Reid was born to A. L. Morris Milner and Fannie Dilley Milner on August 7, 1939, in Yazoo City, MS and has lived primarily in the Jackson, MS area since 1951. She received her BSE degree from Delta State University and her MA in English from Mississippi College. She taught at Matthews High School in Matthews, MO for one year and at Forest Hill High School in Jackson for nine years. She retired after teaching English at Hinds Community College in Raymond for 27 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Clinton.
Family members include husband Ellis W. (Bud) Reid, whom she wed in 1962, and daughter and son-in-law Darla and Scott Harrison of Clinton, MS; grandchildren, grandchildren-in-laws & great-grandchildren Reid/Bentley/Chloe Harrison of Madison, MS, Dean/Khari/Lenora/Scottie Harrison of Clinton, MS, and Cara/Chase/Tate Lunceford of Clinton, MS; and sister Charlotte Marshall of Mobile, AL; brothers-in-law & sister-in-law Bill/Connie Reid of Jackson, MO, Jimmy Alexander of Denham Springs, LA, and Bill Harris of Jonesboro, AR. She is also survived by many loving and caring nieces and nephews from MS, LA, AR, AL & GA.
She is predeceased by sisters, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Gloria/Ed Ory, Carolyn Alexander, Glenda/John Vanderslice, Donna/Davis Winters and Bob Marshall.
