

Margie Lou Ballard Kemp, 82, passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Visitation will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home on Thursday, January 28, 2016 from 5-8 PM. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday at 1 PM with visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Kemp was born in McCall Creek, MS on February 13, 1933 to the late Hiram Cassidy and India Rushing Ballard. She was an active member of Parkway Baptist Church for over 60 years where she was involved in MOPS and Teen MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) and the Women’s Ministry. Mrs. Kemp retired as an Administrative Assistant with the Mississippi State Department of Education. She volunteered at several places including CMMC.
She is preceded in death by her husband, William Haynes Kemp, Sr.; son, William Haynes Kemp, Jr.; daughter, Karen Lynn Kemp; great grandchild, Sadie Harvey; brothers, Hiram Ballard, Jr., Milton Ballard, and Ed Ballard; and sister, Merle Weeks.
Mrs. Kemp is survived by her son, William Martin “Billy” Kemp (Melissa); daughter, Deborah Ann Kemp; grandchildren, Melissa Lynne Harvey (Shawn), Alicia Love Parker (Josh), Jeremy Matthew Boler (Adrienne); great grandchildren, Peyton Parker, Wyatt Harvey, Paisley Parker; and sister, Mary Ballard.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the MOPS and Teen MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) at Parkway Baptist Church, 802 N Frontage Rd, Clinton, MS 39056.
