A visitation for Marian will be held Sunday, May 29, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Lakewood Funeral Home, 6011 Clinton Blvd, Jackson, Mississippi 39209. Following the visitation will be a graveside service at 2:30 PM at Lakewood Memorial Park, 6000 Clinton Blvd, Jackson, Mississippi 39209.
Marian was born on January 18, 1926 in Richwood, Ohio. At the age of 6 she began playing piano for her childhood church in Marion, Ohio and continued to play throughout her entire life. She played with many Grand Ole Opry stars at benefit shows and was asked many times to go on tour, but she chose to stay home with her family. She was a secretary for the VA Hospital in Jackson for over 30 years. After her retirement, she became a world wide traveler, she especially enjoyed going on cruises. She was the matriarch of her family and the glue that held them together. She always welcomed everyone with open arms and never met a stranger.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Wortman; brothers, James "Jimmy" Hornbeck and Dwight Hornbeck; sister, Margie Chard; and great granddaughter, Laureen Elizabeth Carter.
Marian is survived by her son, Raymond David Wortman (Carol); grandchildren, Wendee Gayle Wortman, Brandie L. Wortman, Raymond David Wortman, II (Jessica), April Banaszynski (Scott) and Rhonda Oliver; great grandchildren, Timmothy Michael Carter, Taylor Oliver, Sabbath Pitarre, Robin Rogers (Luke), Dennis Wayne Mink, Joshua Wayne Carter, Sabastion Wortman, David Walton (Victoria), Joseph Marcus Carter, and Margaret Crapps (Phillip); great great grandchildren, Dante, Raven, Sky, Graydon, Ozzie, Dylan, Scarlett; and sisters, Thirza Shaw and Bonnie Hamlin (Steve).
