Neil King, 86, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2022. Visitation will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home on Friday, December 23 from 9:30 to 11:00 AM with the funeral service to follow in the chapel. Interment will be at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Neil was born on December 11, 1936 in Glenwood, GA to the late Cyril and Cornelia Jones King. He graduated from Mississippi College in 1959 and soon after began his career as an insurance agent with State Farm which spanned from 1963 until his retirement in 2016. Throughout his career he received numerous awards, including the “Legion of Honor” award in recognition to his commitment to his customers and achieving top performance goals. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church Clinton and proudly carried the title of lifetime deacon. He was a member of the Clinton Chamber of Commerce where he received their “Distinguished Service Award”. He was a proud supporter and member of the Clinton Community Nature Center and was recognized with their “Century Award”. He continued to support his alma mater, Mississippi College, and received the “Service Award” from the School of Business.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Freda McKee.
Neil is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marva Nell; son, Brian King (Davelle); daughter, Melanie Freeland (Matt); grandchildren, Carson Freeland, Connor Freeland, Walker King and David King; sister, Pat Bardin. He also leaves numerous nieces, nephews and beloved friends to cherish his memory.
