Mrs. Patricia Alexander Burrow, 91, died Sunday, March 27, 2011 at her home in Jackson. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 Wednesday in the Chapel of Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home on High Street. Visitation will be from 9:30 until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Burrow was born in Memphis TN. At the age of 18, she moved to Jackson to become employed at Jordan Construction Company. In 1947, she married her husband, Mr. Thomas Dye Burrow, and became a homemaker.
Mrs. Burrow, a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, was an avid sports fan. She loved her professional tennis and football, having a special interest in Mississippi’s standout quarterbacks. She was a member of The Town and Country Garden Club, The High Noon Luncheon Club, The Pierian Club, and The Ladies Bridge Club. She also enjoyed reading, and had a love for fine foods. Mrs. Burrow cherished her time as an employee of Fridge’s in Jackson where she made many friends.
Mrs. Burrow was preceded in death by her parents, Irving Grant and Virna Claire Jordan Alexander; her husband, Thomas Dye Burrow; her brother, Irving Grant Alexander Jr.; and her daughter, Barbara Burrow. She is survived by her son, Alex Burrow (Susan) of Jackson; daughter, Patricia Boyd (Lee) of Jackson; and two sisters, Elise Dunkley of Nashville, TN and Hilda Thomas of Little Rock AR. She is survived by six grandchildren; Dr. Jane Claire Williams (Nason), Dr. Stewart Boyd (Melissa), Caroline Boyd, Matthew Burrow, Rachael Burrow, and Sarah Burrow. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Dr. Stephens, the nurses and staff of the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center and Mrs. Burrow’s sitters for their wonderful care and love given during her illness. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
