Robert “Bobby” Burrell Boykin, 79, of Jackson, MS, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2020. He was born November 11, 1940 to the late Walter Boykin and Tiny (Little) Boykin.
Bobby was devoted to his family above all else. He is preceded in death by one beloved child, Robert Burrell Boykin, Jr. Survivors include his much loved wife of 56 years, Jeanne (Reynolds) Boykin, daughter Amanda (Boykin) Raspa and her husband Vic Raspa, son Ben Boykin, and grandchild Elizabeth Raspa.
Bobby graduated from Mississippi State University in 1962 and later went to work for Entergy where he retired after 37 years. From 1965 to 1971, Bobby served in the Army National Guard. He was a lifelong member and a deacon at First Baptist Church of Jackson. Bobby enjoyed reading, hunting, and fishing but most of all, he loved helping people - especially young people. Whether he was mentoring young men in Boy Scout Troop 8, sitting on a building committee for the Girl Scouts, or simply teaching Vacation Bible School, serving others always lay closest to Bobby’s heart.
Flowers are welcome; memorial contributions may be sent to Mission First or Boy Scout Troop 8, First Baptist Church of Jackson, MS.
