Robert E. Nader passed away on March 2, 2018 in Oxford, MS. Born in Dayton, Ohio, he moved to Mississippi at an early age. He attended the public schools in Greenwood where he participated in all sports, particularly football and baseball. He served in the US Army and was honorably discharged as a lieutenant. Graduating from the University of Alabama, he obtained the highest scholastic honors offered by the School of Commerce including Phi Eta Sigma, Beta Alpha Psi, and Beta Gamma Sigma. He moved to Jackson with his wife, the late Josephine Williams Nader, and began his career in public accounting. For 35 years he practiced accounting with Williams, Nader and Company. In 1985, Bob merged with the Horne CPA Group where he remained until his retirement.
He was a member of the Commerce Executive Society, Associate Executives Club of the University of Alabama, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Mississippi Society of Certified Public Accountants. He was also a member of the Country Club of Jackson, the American National Bridge Association, and the Jackson Bridge Association. Bob was very interested in ballroom dancing, golf, competitive bridge, and especially University of Alabama football.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Williams Nader, and two brothers, James Nader and Allan Nader. He is survived by his two daughters, Mary Helen Wilkie and her husband Ted of Atlanta and Jodie Marsalis and her husband Bo of Oxford; five grandchildren, Robert and Regan Howe of Atlanta, John Marsalis, his wife Sarah, and Will Marsalis of Oxford, and Amanda Marsalis Bruss and her husband Jeremy of Florence, AL; and by three great grandchildren, Walker, Mary Hunter, and Wells Bruss. In addition, he is survived by three sisters, Lillian Dean of Greenwood, Frieda Ghesquiere of Montigny-le-Tilleul, Belgium, and Eleanor Holtz of Raymondville, MO; a sister-in-law, Dolores Nader of Jackson; several nieces and nephews; and his devoted friend, Joy Boyd, of Yazoo City.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Oxford, MS; or a charity of your choice.
A private family service will be held.
