Robert W. Townsend

He was born to Wallace L. Townsend and Ruby Ates Townsend in Jackson, MS. After graduating from Flora High School, he attended Millsaps College and enlisted in the Navy during the Korean conflict. He retired as an operations manager for AT&T after 30 years, having served in various capacities with Bell South and AT&T services departments in Tupelo, Meridian and Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Betty Sue Lewis Townsend.

He is survived by his brother, Dr. Richard L. Townsend (Irene), his children Ann Krischer (David) and Chris Townsend (Brenda). He was Papaw to grandchildren Sarah Stewart (David), Jesse Krischer, Ashley Gustafson (Brad), Elana Schimmel (Ricky), Jeremy Townsend (Christina), great-grandchildren Adrienne Stewart, Camden Stewart, Libby Usry, Grey Gustafson, Alyssa Townsend and Charlotte Townsend. Also survived by nieces Pamela Gerity, Saralyn Quinn and Jill Townsend and by nephews Stanley Simpson and Glenn Simpson.

The family is grateful to Bob's special friend, Patricia White, who helped him in the last years of his life and was with him when he passed.
