

Sara was born on July 6, 1934 in Jackson, MS. She was a proud graduate of Central High School in Jackson, MS, and earned a B.S. degree in Business from Mississippi Southern College in Hattiesburg, MS. She devoted 25 years to the Mississippi State Department of Health, where she formed cherished lifelong friendships.
Known for her humor and love of life, Sara was a passionate dancer and a fan of celebrities from her era, especially Nelson Eddy and Elvis Presley. As a child, she was an avid athlete and later enjoyed watching football and baseball, with Peyton Manning being her all-time favorite. She overcame a brain tumor in 2011 with remarkable strength, undergoing several surgeries and physical therapy.
In her later years, Sara embraced vibrant fashion, glittering jewelry, and painted nails and loved holiday decorating. She often shared her colorful artwork and contagious laughter with neighbors. Throughout her life she was a devoted mother and proud grandmother. Her daughters express deep gratitude for the compassionate care she received from the medical team, residents, and staff at The Conservatory in Keller, TX.
Sara is survived by her daughters, Kim Agosta (Scott) and Linnea Rice (Mark); her grandchildren, Maggie Agosta (Michael Vingiello), Reed Agosta (Michal Kate), Jack Rice, and Natalie Rice; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Eugene and Bessie Jones Barrow; her former husband, Jimmie Reed; her brother, William Eugene Barrow, Jr.; and her sisters, Lucy Milligan, Betty Bradley, and Helen Shults, along with her nephew, William Guy Barrow.

A visitation for Sara will be held Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 1:50 PM at Lakewood Funeral Home, 6011 Clinton Blvd, Jackson, Mississippi 39209. Following the visitation will be a graveside service at 2:00 PM.
