Suzanne Tanksley

Suzanne Tanksley, 86, went to be with her Savior on September 3, 2016 at Good Samaritan Village, Hutchinson, KS. The family will receive visitors at Lakewood Funeral Home, 6011 Clinton Blvd. on Friday, September 9 from 6:30-8 PM. A celebration of her life will be held at Clinton First United Methodist Church at 10 AM, Saturday, September 10.

Suzanne was born June 18, 1930 in Louisville, KY to Harold and Lucy Mitchell. In 1951 she married Perry Tanksley and for the next 20 years she served and cared for others through her husband’s ministry in United Methodist congregations in OH, TN and MS. In 1971 they moved to Clinton, MS. where she lived until Perry, her beloved husband of 63 years, died in 2013. For those who knew Suzanne, she will be remembered for her acts of service to others, her grace as a hostess, her love of music, and her open door policy, especially for her grandchildren.

She graduated from high school in Louisville, KY, Asbury College in Wilmore, KY and she received an M.Ed. from Mississippi College. She is survived by her four sons, John Tanksley, Hutchinson, KS, Robert Tanksley, Clinton, MS, Perry Tanksley, Sarasota, FL and Mark Tanksley, Clinton, MS, a brother Harold Mitchell of Bloomington, MN, 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
