

Thomas Q. Martin, Sr., 83, died of heart failure Sunday, March 8, 2015, at the Trinity Mission and Rehab in Clinton. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2015 from 12-2 PM at Lakewood Funeral Home on Clinton Blvd with a funeral service beginning at 2 PM in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Mr. Martin was a Pelahatchie native but spent most of his life as a Jackson resident. He graduated from Forest Hill High School. He served his country in the United States Army in the Korean War. He had retired from long and successful career with Mississippi Power and Light Co., (now referred to as Entergy) and was awarded a citation for Sixty Years of service with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in April 2012. He was a past deacon at Southern Hills Baptist Church and currently a member of Wildwood Baptist Church.
Mr. Martin was a loving husband and father. He was preceded in death by his beautiful and devoted wife, Deloris Jones Martin and their pride and joy, The Reverend Thomas Quitman Martin, Jr.
Also preceding him in death was his parents, W.H. and Bessie Moore Martin of Pelahatchie and two sisters, Aileen Martin Chamblee and Dorothy Jean Martin Evans and his six brothers, Sam “SB” Martin, Burney K. “Wimpy” Martin, George A. “Jiggs” Martin, James M. “Jimmy” Martin, Hardy “Bud” Martin and Kenneth “KW” Martin.
He is survived by many loving nieces and nephews. We will all miss Uncle Thomas.
