

William T. Weathersby, a retired Jackson Fire Fighter passed away August 31, 2023. He was born Aug. 19, 1932 in Jackson and lived there for most of his life. He graduated from Central High School in 1950 and shortly after in January, 1951, was activated into the Army with the 31st “Dixie” Division and served in the Korean conflict.
After returning to Jackson, William attended Millsaps College and graduated with a degree in Geology. But, he had a passion for fire fighting and later went to work for the Jackson Fire Department where he served for 32 years. He was a part time instructor with the MS State Fire Fighter School for 10 years. He was a member of Lakeshore Congregational Methodist Church for 37 years.
William is survived by his faithful wife of 41 years, JoAnn Weathersby, daughter, Sandra Moffat, son, Steven Weathersby (Stephanie) and 3 granddaughters; Emily Moffat, Cassie Moffat and Mary Moffat Burnham (Jeremy), 3 step children: Terri Blackstock (Ken), Kelly Coleman (Jack) and Scott Ward (Florenda). A special thanks to Professional Nursing Care for faithfully caring for him since 2005, especially Rose Harris.
A visitation for William will be held Tuesday, September 5, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Lakeshore Congregational Methodist Church, 6880 S Siwell Rd, Byram, Mississippi, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM. William was laid to rest in Lakewood Memorial Park.
