Yvonne Mary Donelson

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at First Baptist Church Madison. The funeral service will begin in the church sanctuary at 12 noon. A graveside service will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park at 3:00 pm.

Yvonne was born in Millicent, Massachusetts on May 23, 1928 to Gabriel and Margaret Sharbil Shaheen. She later lived in Hammond, Louisiana where she graduated from high school. She married Nicholas Ackle and moved to Jackson, MS. She was employed at "Vogue" downtown in Jackson, MS for many years. In 1969, she married the love of her life, Raymond Donelson and moved to Shreveport, Louisiana until 2008 moving to Madison, MS (Lake Caroline) to be close to her family. While living in Shreveport, Louisiana, she was the Department Head of Dillard's in the Ladies Dress Department. She was the "top" salesperson for many years.

She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Madison. She was active in Sunday School and a member of the Senior Adult Choir. She loved people and entertaining, especially cooking for family and her many friends. She loved her home and working in the yard. She loved to travel and took many trips with her daughter, Anita and son-in-law, Bill Waltman. Yvonne loved the Lord, her children and grandchildren, which were the center of her life. Some words used to describe Yvonne by her family and friends are one of a kind, sharing, loving, entertaining, headstrong, giving and compassionate. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Gabriel and Margaret Shaheen and husband, Raymond Donelson; brothers, Peter Shaheen, George Shaheen, Gabriel Shaheen, Joseph Shaheen, Ellis Shaheen and Thomas Shaheen; sister, Evelyn Shaheen Recile. Her sister, Rose Marie Shaheen Valls (Richard) live in Massachusetts.

Yvonne also has numerous nieces and nephews; George G. Recile, Ellis Shaheen Jr, Joseph Shaheen, Ronald Shaheen, Gerry Shaheen and Bobby Shaheen; nieces, Laura T Valls, Patricia Spaur, Nancy Shaheen, Frances Recile Marullo, Frances Shaheen, Gail Shaheen and Patricia Shaheen (deceased).

Yvonne is survived by her daughter, Anita Waltman; son, Larry Ackle; granddaughters, Tiffany Bauder (Kevin), Courtney Scott (Greg), Ashley Ackle and grandson, Perrin Bauder; great granddaughters, Alexis Marie King, Charlie Brooke Scott and Olivia Fleming Scott.

Pallbearers will be Mike Waltman, Greg Scott, Kevin Bauder, Jerry Stone, Dwight King, Leonard Cash, Johnny McDaniel and Doug Self.

Donations may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital or First Baptist Church Madison.
