‘THE FARM EQUIPMENT MAN’
Mr. Wayne, as he was called, departed from this world on Wednesday, December 17th, 2014 at the age of 88 years. He follows his parents, Allie and Eva Morphis; a sister Elsie Miller; Nell’s mother Dorothy; and his long time friend, Martha Taylor.
He leaves an only daughter, Margaret Nell Morphis Rushing; grandchildren Tracy (Lynda) Snider, Jason (Keata) Snider, Casey (Staci) Rushing. Also he leaves behind precious grandsons Dylan and Seth Snider, Jacob and Will Snider, and Hudson and Hayes Rushing who all loved Papaw’s farm and equipment yard.
Mr. Wayne was a good farmer raising cotton, soybeans, feeder pigs and especially strawberries. He loved the land and loved buying and selling farm equipment. He had many fun days trading and enjoyed his customers; one once said, “ Mr. Wayne could find a brick in the middle of the desert and find a way to make money with it!” He had no education much beyond elementary school but was a Ph.D. in the school of toil and trade. His grandsons grew up behind him in his commerce.
He mastered the custom of stopping at a country store for a ‘coke and a cake’. He loved Mello Yello and honeybuns, fixin’ his dogs hot biscuits in the morning and driving the equipment yard constantly in his E-Z-Go. That’s our Papaw!
We want to thank Jackson General Hospital and Rehab, West Tn. Transitional Care, Alexandria Place, and Northbrooke Health Care for helping and caring for him this past year in his sickness. Also much gratitude to Janelle Tate, Will, and Victoria and to Evangeline Ross for sitting by his side and making sure he was comfortable.
A special appreciation to the enduring care of Dr. David Bryan, Karen Wyatt APN, Dr. Carranza, Dr. Meriwether, Dr. Lents, Dr. Preston, Dr. Vasilopoulos and Dr. Brad Webb.
The family will celebrate, remember, and give thanks to the Living God by receiving guests beginning at 10:00 am at the George A. Smith South Chapel and a service to follow at 1:00 pm. He will make his last road trip back to the farm to his burial plot in Mr. Wayne style—a red pick-up truck.
