Andrew Porter

Funeral services for Andy Porter age 60 will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, December 17th at Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery in Bethel Springs, TN; where military honors will be observed.

Mr. Porter passed away Wednesday evening at his residence following an extended illness.

He was born in Lowell MA; on April 9, 1951 the son of the late Vinal James Porter and Colleen Wells Porter who survives. Mr. Porter was a special education teacher’s aide with the Jackson Madison County School system and an active member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Mr. Porter proudly served his country with the US Navy during the Vietnam War where he was awarded several medals for Service, Campaign and Nation Defense.

Surviving is his wife, Ruth Locke Porter, three daughters, Victoria (Carl) Goerke, Lowell, MA; Rebecca (John) Booker, Bells, TN; Erica (Stacy) Gilpin, Bells, TN; a son, Daniel Porter, Jackson, TN; his mother, Colleen Wells Porter, Tewksbury, MA; one sister, Linda (Richard) of Massachusetts; and three brothers, Roger (Diane) Porter, of New Hampshire; Ted (Ruth Ellen) of Maine; Eric (Karen) Porter, of Massachusetts and 14 grandchildren.

Memorials may be directed to Aldersgate United Methodist Church or to the American Cancer Society.

Visitation with the Porter family will be held on Friday, December 16th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
