Ben Spence Beard Sr. passed away on March 29, 2017. Funeral Services for Mr. Beard will be held on Friday March 31, 2017 at 10 am at the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home with Kirk Beard (grandson) and Dr. Simms officiating. Burial to follow in Highland Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Beard was a member of First Baptist Bemis. Mr. Beard retired from the railroad after 45 years. A veteran of World War II with service in the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years Helen Josephine Beard two daughters, Vicky (David) Matthews of Jackson, TN, Patty (Dwayne) Reynolds of Jackson, TN, one son Kirk (Betty J Briley) Beard of Jackson, TN,9 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Other than his parents he we preceded in death by one son Benny Beard, two sisters, and one brother.
