Dorothy Pearson Harvey

She was born on June 16, 1936, the fourth of six children born to LL "Babe" Pearson and Margaret Henderson Pearson. She graduated from Northside High School and Union University and received her masters degree from Memphis State University.

She married Hugh Harris Harvey, Sr. on February 17, 1957. They celebrated 56 years together this year.

She began her teaching career at JB Young, moving to Pope Elementary and then Northside Junior High School before becoming a curriculum supervisor in the Madison County School system. She was a member of Harris Grove United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Robert "Buddy" Pearson.

She is also survived by a son, Hugh H. Harvey, Jr. and his wife Sue, and two granddaughters, Dorothy Tipton Harvey and Suzanne Harris Harvey of Jackson, TN; four sisters, Margaret Virginia Burks of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, Mary Ruth Hundley and Anne (Eugene) Ross of Jackson, TN, and Nancy (Robert) Earnest of Somerville, TN; and two sisters-in-law, Chloe (Roland) Craddock of St. Louis, MO and Mary Gene Pearson of Jackson, TN.

Pallbearers to serve will be Bob Pearson, Steve Aldridge, Robert Earnest, James Dennison, Mickey Deloach and Barton McLeary.

Funeral services for Mrs. Harvey will be held on Thursday, July 25th at 11 a.m., at George A. Smith & Sons North Chapel. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m., at George A. Smith & Sons North Chapel on Wednesday, July 24th, and resume on Thursday, July 25th at 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
