He attended Marshall University for several years and then graduated from Ohio State University with a BS in Business Administration in 1955. Ed served in the Army from 1955 to 1957 where he spent a lot of time typing and he regularly played tennis. On March 2, 1957 Ed married Wilma June Lincicome, who preceded him in death in 2021. Ed started as an accountant for Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corporation in 1957 at their Ravenswood operations. While working for Kaiser, Ed moved his family to Jamaica, W.I., Spokane, Washington and Erie, Pennsylvania where he became works manager for their forging operation. In 1982, Ed started with Pyrotek in Carlisle, Pennsylvania as plant manager and in 1991 moved to the Trenton, Tennessee operation. Ed retired from Pyrotek in 2003 to focus his time on golf, card games like bridge club or hearts, and family.
Ed and June are survived by all three of their children: Debra L. Thomas, Timothy S. Critchfield, and James L. Critchfield, and their respective spouses; and 5 grandchildren.
