

Mr. Martin, a retired pharmaceutical salesman, passed away Thursday, October 23.
He was born October 22, 1923 in McNairy County to the late Edmund D. Martin, Sr. and Lucy Surratt Martin. At a young age, his family moved to Jackson. He graduated from Jackson High School in 1941. After graduation, he attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps during World War II and later served in the Tennessee National Guard.
After the war, he married Marion Ward and began his career in pharmaceutical sales. He retired in 1986 from A.H. Robins.
Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Rebecca Martin Taylor; and his son in law, Ron Lewis.
Survivors include his wife, Marion Ward Martin; son, Edmund Duke Martin, III; daughters, Virginia “Ginny” Lewis, and Ann (Ernest) Lawrence; 3 granddaughters, Rebecca “Becky” Sousoulas, Sara (David) Brawner and Margaret “Meg” Lawrence; great-granddaughters, Ella Sousoulas and Sara James Sousoulas, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will begin at 1:00 p.m., on Monday October 27, 2014 in Disciple Hall with the service following at 2:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to First United Methodist Church or The American Cancer Society.
