

Eleanor Grace Fick, 67, went to join the Lord on September 1, 2010. Ms. Fick, a resident of Jackson, Tennessee, died of a critical illness in Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Patrick Fick of Dinwiddie, Virginia. One of seventeen children, Eleanor was preceded in death by two brothers, Gordon Joseph "Buck" Fick and Charles Patrick "Son" Fick, Jr., and five sisters, Elizabeth "Lizzy" Wakeland, Winifred "Winnie" Walton, Dorothy "Dot" Ramsey, Shirley Hite, and Mildred Fick. Ms. Fick is survived by her twin sister, Evelyn Bryant of Jackson, Tennessee, brothers Charles William "Buster" Fick and his wife Barbara ,John "Johnny" Fick and his wife Patricia, who reside in Colonial Heights, Virginia, ,Catherine "Kitty" Grantham of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Virginia "Jenny" Lang of Edenton, North Carolina, Barbara McCullen and her husband Edwin "Mac," Ann Furr, Audrey Hughes, Jean Gibbs and her husband Lewis, all from Virginia. Eleanor is also survived by two special nephews, Mark Bryant of Shelbyville, Tennessee, and Sean Bryant of Corinth, Mississippi, as well as many other loving nieces and nephews, and her beloved dogs, Honey and Sam.
Ms. Fick, a native of Virginia, graduated from Dinwiddie High School, Dinwiddie, Virginia in 1962. While in high school, Eleanor participated in many sports, especially basketball and softball, and was voted "Most Athletic" by her senior class. Eleanor loved dancing, trips to the beach, and horseback riding. Her idol was ELVIS PRESLEY. Ms. Fick worked at Texaco #7 on South Highland Avenue in Jackson, Tennessee for a number of years and was known for her GREAT BANANA NUT BREAD. Eleanor's favorite hobbies were cooking, playing card games, spending time with her family and special friends, Norma and Jessie Austin, Jimmie Gail Davis, Barbara Whitaker, and Sherry and Jackie Climer.
Eleanor Fick was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
A Memorial Service for Ms. Fick will be held Saturday, September 4, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home, 2812 North Highland Avenue in Jackson, TN. The family will have visitation prior to the service between 11 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. The service will be officiated by Rev. Jack Nelson. A fellowship will be held at the National Guard Amory, 1510 Highway 70 Bypass, Jackson, TN. at 3 o'clock. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation in Eleanor's name be made to the American Heart Association.
