He was born in London, England in 1945 to Grady Oscar Maners and Joyce Lillian Smith Maners.
He grew up in the Westover community. After marrying the love of his life, Barbara Keel Maners in 1965, they remained in the Westover community and raised their daughters. He was a member of Westover Baptist Church where he was a deacon and Sunday school teacher. In 1991, he and his wife moved to the Beech Bluff area and joined East Union Baptist Church. He continued to serve the church and the people.
Grady was a graduate of North Side High School in the Class of 1963. He also attended IBEW Local apprenticeship program where he became a master electrician. Grady worked at many electrical companies in the Jackson, TN area and then opened his own electrical contracting business. Grady also loved farming. He would spend countless hours bailing hay, feeding cows and doing work around the farm.
Grady and his wife have two daughters. Regina Maners Moloney, married to Jerry Moloney and Tracy Maners Parker, married to Terrell Parker. His daughters were the light of his world. He has one grandson, Parker Allen Ward, son of Regina Maners Moloney and John Allen Ward, Jr. Parker was Grady’s pasture buddy, shared the love of fishing, shooting guns, and eating honey buns. He also has four step-grandchildren, Griffin Coffelt, Tara Moloney Elder, Blake Moloney and Allison Moloney. He has five step great-grandchildren.
Grady loved visiting neighbors and mentoring youth. He had a love for animals, especially cows and dogs. You would normally see Grady out in the field with hundreds of cows with dogs tagging along. Grady was known for his work ethic, sense of humor, love for God and his compassion for others. He was always taking youth under his wing to teach, guide and realize higher goals. We will always remember the impact he had on our lives. We could not have asked for a better
husband/father/brother/brother-in-law/uncle/friend and will miss Grady every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.
Grady was preceded in death by his parents, Grady Oscar Maners and Joyce Lillian Smith, his grandparents Henry Oscar and Ina Marie Taylor Maners of Mercer, TN and Albert and Lillian Smith of Preston, England.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara Keel Maners, daughters, Regina Maners Moloney and Tracy Maners Parker, grandson Parker Allen Ward, Siblings, James Allen Maners, Constance Maners Ward, Shirley Maners Mabry, Paul Lynn Maners and Mark Smith Maners, as well as many beloved family members.
Services will be held at East Union Baptist Church, Jackson, TN. Visitation will be at 11 am. Funeral Services will be at 1 pm. His final resting place will be Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Jackson, TN, Maple Grove community.
Pallbearers were Parker Ward, Terrell Parker, Levi Harvey, David Maners, Brek Mabry, Brooks Keel, Wesley Crowder, and Will Kemp.
