James M. Shannon

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 18, 2013 at 1 p.m. in the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home with interment to follow with military honors in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Jackson.

Jim was born March 8, 1938 in Giles City, Alabama to Annie Pearl and Leonard T. Shannon who preceded him in death. He is also preceded by a brother, Grover T. Shannon, a sister, Ann Laura Price, and son, Michael W. Shannon.

Mr. Shannon moved to Jackson in 1955. After serving four years in the Air Force, he worked for Canalco for 23 years. He was a member of North Jackson Baptist Church and VFW Post 6496 serving as commander and Chaplain.

Leaving to cherish his memory are his wife; daughters, Suzette (Billy) Jones of Lexington, TN; Vicki Hagood of Hernando, MS; Lisa (Chris) Strom of Jacksonville, FL; Allyson (Steve) Gibbs of Bowling Green, KY; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and sister, Doris Smith of Louisville, KY.

Visitation with the family will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2013 from 5-8 p.m. In the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home.
