Jerry Bob Cullen

Jerry was born June 28, 1927 in Memphis, TN to the late J. B. Cullen and Velma Cullen Lockhart. He graduated from Central High School, Memphis, TN in 1945 and Vanderbilt University in 1951 with a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree.

Jerry worked for United States Fidelity Company as a claim adjustor for 39 years, retiring in August 1991.

Jerry served in the U. S. Navy from June 1945 to August 1946 obtaining the rank of Seaman First Class. He was stationed at Great Lakes Training Camp, Illinois.

He was a deacon and Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church, Jackson, TN.

Jerry loved woodworking, photography and reading history books.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lucille Donnell Cullen, two daughters, Kay Cooke and husband Steve of Jackson, TN and Anne Hair and husband Victor of Knoxville, TN; three granddaughters, Jennifer Craig and husband David, Sarah Shankle and husband Chad, both of Jackson, TN and Bethany Hair of Knoxville, TN, one grandson, Ben Hair and wife Jennifer of Brea, CA, and four great grandchildren, Madeline and Hayden Craig, Harrison and Graham Shankle.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to; First Baptist Church, 1627 N. Highland Jackson, TN 38305

Visitation will be Saturday October 29, 2016 from 9:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am at George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home North Chapel with the Rev. Dan Bruce officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgecrest Cemetery.
