Joe T. Garrett, age 80 of Jackson, passed away on March 18, 2015. He was born in 1934 in McKenzie, TN. He worked at American Olean Tile as a supervisor. In addition to serving 2 years active duty in the U.S. Navy, he continued in the Naval Reserves for another 28 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of Poplar Heights Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Nancy; one son, Michael (Amy) and two grandsons, Samuel and Isaac. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Alena Garrett; and his sons, Larry and Joey Garrett. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 2 p.m., with visitation from 1 p.m. until the time of the service in the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Smith and sons North Chapel
