Funeral Services for Johnny L. Deaton, Jr., age 84, will be held Sunday April 18, 2010 at 4pm from George A. Smith and Sons North Chapel with Rev. Johnny Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Deaton retired from the U.S. Army and the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of Oakfield Baptist Church, the NARFE, and a former Post Commander of the VFW Parson’s Post 4971 .
He was preceded in death by his parents Johnny Leo Deaton Sr. and Lessie Richardson Deaton, and one sister Minnie Jane Usery.
He is survived by his wife Georgia Laws Deaton, one son Don Deaton (Sheryl) of Jackson, TN, two brothers Bo Deaton, Jackson, TN, Gary Deaton, Mt. Juliet, TN, three sisters Joan Walker Holder Jackson, TN, Virginia Wilson, Hampton, VA., and Angelyn Golmon, Hernando, MS. Two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Visitation with the Deaton family will be Saturday April 17, 2010 from 5pm until 8pm at the North Chapel.
The family asks that memorials be directed to Oakfield Baptist Church.
