

Funeral services for Lillian Kay Bridges, age 92, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2014 in the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons, with Brother Stan Griffin officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Bridges died Monday, September 1, 2014 at Northbrooke Heath Care and Rehab Center, Jackson, TN.
She was born on August 26, 1922 in Chester County, TN, the daughter of the late Virgie O. Stewart Jones Latham and the late Keeton Halley Jones. Mrs. Bridges was a member of Westover Baptist Church and taught a Vacation Bible School class for many years. Lillian was also a member of the Starlights of the Madison County Extension Homemakers Club and won achievement awards from 1985 through 1992. She was also a den mother for a local cub scout wolf pack troop.
Lillian met and married her first husband, the late Durward Belmont Holder, and lived and worked in the Oak Ridge, TN area where Durward worked for an electric company supporting the Manhattan Project. Lillian and Durward had two children, Iris Vinece and Durward Lee, and later moved to Jackson, TN. Durward B. was killed during an accident when a utility pole he was working on broke at the base and fell with him on it.
Lillian graduated from Pinson Tennessee High School and attended West Tennessee Business College in Jackson, TN. She then went to work for the Jackson Electric Department where she met William (Mack) McKelvie Bridges, Sr. when he came in to pay his bill. She later went to work for the Cherokee Insurance Company, Jackson District office in November, 1961 as a Key Sort Operator, and was praised by her manager, Cecil Moore, for her work proficiency. Lillian and Mack had two sons, William (Bill) M. Bridges, Jr. and Jesse Keeton Bridges.
Lillian is survived by one sister, Helen Hurst of Jackson, TN and two children, Iris Vinece Holder Presser of Germantown, TN and William (Bill) M. Bridges, Jr. of Tullahoma, TN; 3 daughters-in-law, Yvonne Lancaster Bridges of Tullahoma, TN, Leigh Pulley Bridges of Medina, TN, and Sandra Holder of Jacksonville, FL; 9 grandchildren, William M. Bridges III, Elissa K. Bridges, Jacob K. Bridges, Lauren S. Bridges, Pam A. Presser, Jeri K. Presser, Durward Bryan Holder, Michael W. Holder, and Durward L. Holder, Jr.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William (Mack) McKelvie Bridges, Sr.; two sons, Durward Lee Holder and Jesse Keeton Bridges; two sisters, Maxine Connor and Minnie Arnold; and three brothers, Richard Latham, Mauldin Latham and Boyce Latham.
The family will receive friends today from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., in the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons.
The family wishes to give a special thanks to her Caregiver, Elaine Collins, for her excellent hard work and dedication to Mrs. Bridges.
