Martha passed away on Monday, September 1, 2014 at her residence in Jackson.
Martha was born on August 3, 1939 in Jackson, TN, the daughter of Victor and Gladys DeVasher Dorris.
Mrs. Gideon was a member of Liberty Grove Baptist Church for 35 years. She married William Thomas Gideon on December 26, 1958. Her husband was in the military and they traveled all over the globe as a military family.
Martha is survived by her daughter, Gina Gideon Petty (Larry) of Jackson; two granddaughters, Layne Nicole Petty and Kayla Petty Williams (Matthew); two brothers, Gene and Bruce Dorris; and one sister, Mary Towater.
In addition to her husband, Martha was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Parker Gideon.
Pallbearers to serve will be Mark Miller, Rob Johnson, Matthew Williams, Kenny Lemons, Clint Dorris, and Mike Byrum.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. at the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home.
