

Nick was born on March 4, 1947 in Minden, LA to the late James Edward and DeNease Collins Trent. He was a graduate of Dubberly High School in Dubberly, LA. Nick served his country in the United States Army and came to Jackson, TN, in 1971. He retired from Jackson State Community College as the Physical Plant Director. An avid golfer, Nick was previously a member at the Milan Golf and Country Club and was currently a member of Woodland Hills Country Club in Pinson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jim Akin.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Elliott Trent of Pinson; son, Christopher Trent of Jackson; step son, Clint McCartney (Tiffany) of Palm City, FL; grandchildren, Zoey Trent, Westin Harris, Michael McCartney, and Whitney McCartney; siblings, Reta Bright (Bill) of Magnolia, TX and Carl Trent (Vickie) of Shreveport, LA; sister-in-law, Lee Akin of Natchitoches, LA; and many nieces and nephews, all of which adored him.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 3 p.m. at Gibson County Memory Gardens with Chaplain Scott Bloodworth officiating. Military honors will be rendered by the United States Army.
The family will have gathered for a private visitation with family and close friends prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers and customary remembrances, the family requests memorials be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Nick’s memory.
