

Pamela was born on January 12, 1954 in Fairfax, Virginia to the late Walter and Jacqueline Merkel Mullins. She attended the Word of Life Bible Institute where she developed a deep and abiding faith in the Lord and a lifelong group of friends. She then attended Tennessee Temple University where she studied early childhood education and met her husband, David.
Pam was a grade school teacher for several years after college. While her children were small, she made the brave decision to go back to school to earn her BSN nursing degree after which she worked at Memorial Hospital as a nurse for 13 years.
Pam was best known for her laughter and joy. She celebrated each achievement and milestone, no matter how small, with exuberance, hugs, and delight. She was known to lavishly decorate for every season and holiday bringing cheer and happiness to those around her. Pam had a deep love and faith in the Lord which carried her through difficult times. Some of her favorite hymns include It is Well With My Soul and In the Garden.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William David Puckett (2006) and her sister Denise Diana (2009).
She is survived by her two daughters and their families; JoLeigh (Marshall) Sutton, and Kathryn (Donald) Halsted; as well as her three grandchildren Cooper, William, and Beatrice Sutton; her sister Deborah Groves; her mother-in-law Shirley Puckett; many loving brothers and sisters-in law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and her grandpets Ember and Sadie.
The family will receive friends and loved ones on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 from 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons with a memorial service following at 1 p.m. The family will hold a graveside interment ceremony at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Banner Elk, NC. on Friday, March 22, 2024.
