Richard Earl Murchison

Richard was born on December 12, 1934 in Jackson, TN to the late Magnus Napolean Murchison and Hattie Mae Teuton Murchison. He was a graduate of J.B. Young High School in Bemis. He later served three years in the United States Army. He was employed for many years with Tennessee Valley Authority and worked in carpentry with his father. He and his wife were longtime members of Lester's Chapel United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Hearn Murchison; and a brother, Grady Murchison.

He is survived by his children, Eddie Murchison of Dallas, TX, Sheri Murchison Richardson (Allen) of Jackson, Mark Murchison of Jackson and Ronnie Murchison (Angela) of Jackson; seven grandchildren, Amber Murchison, Chelsea Murchison Brooks (Beau), Payton Richardson, Zach Murchison, Connor Richardson, Maggie Richardson, and Benjamin Murchison; his brother, Clifford Murchison (Lora) and his sister, Shirley Murchison Hunt (Frank).

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 pm with Dr. Joe Thornton officiating. Burial will be in Lester’s Chapel Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers will be Zach Murchison, Payton Richardson, Connor Richardson, Keith Hutchison, and David Pruitt.
