

Mrs. Gaskins was born Ruthie Maxine Humphrey in Carroll County, but spent most of her life in Spring Creek. She was retired after working more than 30 years as a surgical nurse at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Mrs. Gaskins was preceded in death by parents, Richard and Ruthie Humphrey, and husband, Arthur Wain "Humpy" Gaskins, Sr.
Mrs. Gaskins is survived by two brothers, Charles and McDean Humphrey, both of Spring Creek; a son and daughter-in-law, Arthur Wain, Jr. and Karen (Mays) Gaskins of Memphis; four grandsons, Brad Gaskins of Spring Creek, Drew Gaskins of Nashville, and Joseph Gaskins and Isaac Gaskins, both of Memphis; two great-grandchildren, Gwendolyn Gaskins of Nashville and AnnaMarie Gaskins of Memphis. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins, whom she loved dearly.
Funeral services for Mrs. Gaskins will be held on Friday, July 19, 2013 at 1 p.m., in the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons, with Rev. Wendell Birchett officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Flatt United Methodist Church Cemetery in Cedar Grove.
Pallbearers to serve will be Brad, Drew and Joe Gaskins, Danny and Wendell Humphrey, Shane Hodge, Lloyd King, and Larry Cochran.
Visitation with the family will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m., in the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home.
